We've had some major changes around here lately. The weather has changed from warm to hot, so for that reason, I decided to change the blog background to the summertime theme. Our pool opens tomorrow, and we are already dealing with the heat and humidity. April is really the last month before summer where it is still somewhat pleasent outside, so Louisiana packs all of its festivals in one month. We have already been to a couple, but we are headed to quite a few more festivals and outdoor concerts this weekend. Our kiddos are changing so much! They are growing so big. Brighton is now potty trained and sleeping in a big girl bed. Will is playing soccer and riding his bike like a big boy, and I can't believe my little babies aren't babies anymore! We've had some changes around the house with some new items thanks to a nice tax refund. We bought the kids some new bikes, Brighton a new bed, Will some new goldfish, and Jon got a new camera. We are not the only ones celebrating new "things." Our church has finally found a new pastor. We have not had a head pastor since we started attending Faith Presbyterian, so we are very excited that God has brought us a new man for the job. We are thanking God for all of these changes and blessings even if it means are little ones are not so little anymore.

A new camera for Jon...
Jon seems to have an eye for photography, and he's always wanted a really nice camera. We were finally able to get him one thanks to generous donations from family for his 30th birthday that is coming up at the end of this month. I'm not sure how to upload them in high resolution, so some of the quality is taken away by blogger :(
New Bikes...
New goldfish...
As you can see, he is quite proud of the fact that he can feed his little pets on his own. We have already warned him that goldfish do not last too long, so consequently, everytime we go out he asked if I think his goldfish will be dead when we return...I blame myself.
A new bed...
Since Brighton is now potty trained, I really wanted her to be able to get out of her bed to go potty. Her crib converts to a full bed, but we decided to just use the headboard and put her new mattress and box springs right on the floor, so she doesn't have too far to climb. She LOVES it! And no I do not leave the window open while she's asleep. She was just getting some fresh air while she looked at books.
At the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, the kids got to ride the little rides and play some games (which is where the goldfish came from). While Brigthon enjoyed the little slow rides, Will was not so sure...
He was clearly unimpressed with these until Daddy took him on this...
his very first "roller coaster." They are three people back (Jon's wearing pink).
Will is terrified of dogs and cats, but he will touch anything scaly or slimy. At the strawberry festival, we all get to sample some delicious strawberry daiquiris. (The kids' obviously had no alcohol in them.)
He is actually starting to get it. At first, he just ran around the field (sometimes pretending to be an airplane). But now, he is trying to go after the ball and kick it in the goal although sometimes it's the wrong goal.
I love to put Brighton's hair in pigtails...she's just so darn cute!
We all love to go to free outdoor concerts. Will claims it's his favorite thing to do (when asked by our new Pastor, he responded that his favorite song was, "Cheeseburger in Paradise." These pics were taken at Sunset At The Landing which is a free monthly concert on the banks of one of the rivers in our neighborhood. Our house is one block from the Little Tchefuncte River and two blocks from the Bogue Falaya River.
