Our trip fell right during the last weekend of Carnival, but we made it back in time for Mardi Gras. We went to two parades before we left and then one more on Fat Tuesday. Of course, our plane into New Orleans was packed with people coming into town to celebrate. I know I have said this before, but I always feel the need to emphasize that Mardi Gras is not the crazy drunkfest where women go around flashing their chests that most people think of. On the Northshore, Mardi Gras is very family oriented. While we didn't make it to any Southshore parades, most of them are family-friendly as well. The kids have a great time, and I love that they are getting to experience such a unique cultural phenomenon. We didn't take any pictures on Fat Tuesday, but here are some pictures from the Krewe of Eve and Krewe of Olympia. I want to thank our friends the Slatons for including us in some VIP spots for the parades this year! It was fun to be with friends and be close to a bathroom!!!!!
This is a Mardi Gras ladder. These are a traditional way for kids to watch the parades over the crowds of people. Will and Brighton ate their dinner and watched the floats go by...what a life!
