A Break at the Lake

We have so much going on right now. I am currently calling utility companies to stop service in Louisiana and begin them for our new home in Utah. We got back this past Sunday from a house-hunting trip that was very stressful but successful. Now the move preparations have to be finalized and all of our goodbyes said. On top of that, I am also currently prepping Brighton for a colonoscopy on Thursday. She continues to have problems with her digestion, so we've decided to go through with the procedure to make sure that there are no serious problems. Please pray for her and us this week. With all that going on, I decided the best use of my time was to blog. Actually, I just thought blogging would take my mind off of things. So here is the first installment of our Virginia Vacation starting with our trip to Mom and Dad's house. We had a great time as usual, but while we were enjoying our break, Nana suffered a break of her own. Mom was walking down the outdoor deck steps, when she slipped and fell. She broke three bones in her ankle which required surgery to fix. She is doing well now and seems to be healing nicely. Although the injury took her out of commission to do many of the active things she typically enjoys, I think she enjoyed spending some extra special time with her grandkids that she may not have had if she wasn't forced to sit still. Amanda and I picked up the slack at their house along with Dad who has gotten pretty good with housework and even some cooking! It was actually nice to be able to wait on my mom for a change because she has always waited on me and the kids so much. We had a wonderful visit, and so today I am reliving it by taking this break from the stress! Stay tuned for the second half of vacation pictures that I will post when I can take another break :)

Nana and Papa's house...notice the little red wheelbarrow on the boat launch. It was full of fireworks!

Dad is known throughout the cove for his excellent fireworks show! Happy Independence Day!

We also had an early birthday celebration at Nana and Papa's for Will.

There was plenty of cousin bonding time. Callie and Brighton play very well together and seem to really like to do many of the same things...

...like being completely mischevious!

Will, Brighton, and Callie had many good hours playing inside...

...and OUTSIDE!

While Amanda and I have been requesting a slide since we were kids, Papa decides that he should build one for the next generation. Believe me, it did not stop us from trying it out too--even if it was too narrow for our butts!

Once again, we enjoyed floating and swimming...

during the day and night!

We got in a few good boat rides too. Papa even gave up the Captain's chair a few times ;)

While I enjoy sharing the Captain's seat...I also enjoy not sharing it :)

God bless America...and Nillas...and old wire colanders that Nana uses to get grass out of the baby pool...YAY!

Will caught a few fish and he particularly loved the addition of Papa's slide.

Brighton and Will rode in Daddy's lap for their first turn in the new tube.

We all got a turn on the viper tube. Will was the only one who didn't seem to enjoy it the first time, but he did like it once he tried it again. Nana opted to stay on the boat, having had a little too much fun on Papa's slide the day before. Unfortunately, she will have to wait to try out the new tube until her ankle heals now.

A worn-out baby girl and a very patient Nana.

And now...The Number 1 ankle-breaker! Nana still managed to enjoy our visit, but she was downgraded to spectator status for the more adventerous fun.

Noseholding is an important skill that every Taylor heir must learn.

Will loved sliding into the lake once he overcame his fear.

We love the lake!!
